Membership in the Dark Ones is separated into two classes: DOA (Dark Ones Associate) and Dark One.
A new member of the group is a DOA.
To become a Dark Ones Associate, a prospective member must first obtain a sponsor. A sponsor may be either a Dark One, or a DOA.
The sponsoring member must first put in writing the intended sponsorship (this goes to the Oligarchy). It is always a good idea for the sponsor to keep a copy of the written request.
The Oligarchy will then take an Opinion Poll of the members and provide to the Sponsor a recommendation about the status of the prospective member. For example, if the prospective member is not well-known to the surveyed membership, there may be the recommendation that the prospective member must meet more people first. Or perhaps the memberships would like to see the applicant volunteer more towards DO events.
The sponsor is responsible for following up on these processes. Once recommendations have been followed, the sponsor should request another opinion poll, allowing two fortnights for the Oligarchy to complete the work.
Once the recommendation comes back favorable for a vote… the sponsor must then submit a written request for a vote on the prospective member. The request should also include an event that is being requested for the new member to be made a DOA should the vote be strong enough to pass.
If the prospective passes the voting process, the new member must pay the membership fee of $5 and a silver coin.

Changing Class of Membership From "Dark Ones Associate" to "Dark One"
A DOA may become a Dark One after 5 years of membership.
- The DOA must submit, in writing, to the Oligarchy notification of their intent to change class to Dark One. This document must carry a live signature.
- This notification must be submitted not less than two fortnights prior to the scheduled event at which the Oligarchy is to make announcement of said change in class.
- The DOA in question must meet with the Oligarchy before the event, and must be physically present at a normally scheduled announcement period during the event.
- The fee for becoming a Dark One shall be $20 and a silver coin, as approved by The Oligarchy.
